Standard Shape Steel Fabrication //

Since our start in the electric utility industry, our core business has been fabricating standard shape steel structures. We’ve completed thousands of projects over the years and we are equipped to handle almost any job.

Typical projects we work on include A-frame and H-frame dead end structures, static masts and equipment stands including bus supports, switch stands, PT stands and lightning arresters. We work with round and square tubes, wide flange beams, channel beams, angle beams, pipes and plates to fabricate complete substation structures for our customers. We can handle the pre-assembly needed on lattice-style structures. We also have strategic relationships with well-regarded anchor bolt suppliers across the country allowing us to meet both large and small anchor bolt needs.

Our substation work ranges from one-structure additions to complete greenfield transmission, distribution, collector, converter and switching stations. Whether it is turning wide flange beams into A-frame structures or fabricating riser structures, we take pride in delivering quality products on time and to specifications.

Stairs, Railings, Platforms and Gratings //

We custom fabricate a variety of projects with stairs, railings and gratings including switch platforms, building access platforms, staircases, control building platforms and transformer pits. We specialize in steel grating, but we can order fiberglass grating if needed. At your request, we can detail shop fabrication drawings.

Tapered Tubular Steel Fabrication //

Klute Steel is equipped to meet all of your substation and transmission line tubular needs. We can engineer, detail and fabricate projects ranging from dead ends and static masts to transmission line poles, wood pole equivalents and turning poles.

In 2014 we added a plasma table, seam welder and press brake to our facility to better serve our customers. Since then we have increased our presence in the tubular market. Our custom-designed, 60-foot press brake allows us to fabricate multi-sided tapered steel poles up to 3/4-inch thick. We manufacture both base plated and embedded structures out of galvanized and corten steel. Our facility also houses a plate processor that allows us to fabricate base plates up to four inches thick.

Galvanizing //

Klute benefits from having multiple galvanizing partners within a two-hour drive of our facility. We’ve been using our primary galvanizer since 1998 but we have relationships with several other galvanizers to ensure we always meet your needs. We work with galvanizers that can provide dulling, extra mill coverage and corrocote for embeds. All our galvanizers are ISO 9001 certified.
